I agree, Peter.
To my knowledge, the Rhodesian Armoured Car regiment, dating back to WWII, used the head of a Sable Antelope as the 'emblem' for their badges and buttons.

Pretty certain the South African Armoured Corp wore that badge some years back.
Its a South African Armoured Corps badge worn as a pair, see Owen no.s 1301 / 1302

Craig is having a problem getting on to the forum so I am posting this on his behalf.
Hi all,
The SA tank badge in chrome was worn by Rhodesians that had attended the tank course at SSB in Bloemfontein and was worn above rank as a 'course' proficiency as explained to my by one of the ex RhACR CO's.
I have one on a WO2 black leather wristlet, anodized silver WO2 rank with this tank badge above it all on a yellow one piece felt backing.
So as per Brit custom the badge was worn above persons rank on the right arm, above chevrons etc.
Regards.
Craig
